Below is a list of some of the most common questions that those researching Assisted Living and Independent Living have asked. If you have a question that is not answered below, please feel free to give us a call or email us info@LakewoodParkManor.com so that we can help address any and all of your concerns.
A. An Assisted Living Residence is defined by the Assisted Living Federation of America as a special combination of housing, personalized supportive services and health care designed to meet the needs, both scheduled and unscheduled, of those who need help with activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, eating and monitoring medications.
-
A. Independent living is designed for older people who are independent in addressing and servicing their own daily needs, but are also looking to settle with peers to enjoy a comfortable and active lifestyle.
-
A. Residents or families generally pay for the cost of assisted living from their own financial resources. However, some types of long-term care insurance may reimburse for all or a portion of the assisted living cost.
-
A. The cost of assisted living is based on the type of room and the types of services each resident requires. Before a resident moves into our community, we complete an assessment of needs and then, depending on the personal requirements of the resident, we establish the cost of care.
-
A. There is no long-term commitment. All rent is on a month-to-month basis. A 30-day notice is required before a resident can move out, unless there is a specific change in the resident's health care status that might require a higher level of care.
-
A. The residents' rooms are their home. Furnishing and decorating is the prerogative of the resident and their family, or friends. Each room is fully equipped with furniture; however, if the resident would like to bring their own furniture, that is perfectly acceptable. If you have more questions about decoration, please don't hesitate to ask!
-
A. Absolutely! Residents are more than welcome to invite friends and family to dine with them at the community. An additional charge will apply, and we request advance reservations.
-
A. Because we value the bond people have with their pets, we invite you to have your small pet live with you at our community. We want you to smile, laugh, and feel good! We accept most small pets, and have minimal deposit requirements to make the necessary accommodations.
-
A. Definitely! You are always free to come and go as you please; however, for our residents' safety, we do ask that you notify the staff if you plan on leaving the building.
-
A. Of course! Our community has a Resident Council that provides community management and requests residents’ input about services, programs and other items that concern residents. Our scheduled monthly meetings are displayed on the activity calendar.
